Subject: MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE – Simon Hall
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to you to raise awareness of what our campaign believes is an issue that should touch every member of the British public.
We believe that the issue of people being wrongly convicted is one that should be taken very seriously and it is our prerogative to rectify the matter. The fact that innocent people are being imprisoned is a great concern.
In February 2003 Simon Hall was convicted of murdering 79 year old Joan Albert of Capel St Mary, a village close to Ipswich in Suffolk . The only piece of evidence presented by the prosecution was circumstantial as reflected in the jury's inability to reach a unanimous verdict, 11 to 1.
Having consulted Mr Hall, and having studied the details of his case, we have real concerns about the safety of his conviction. We would like to share our concerns with you in the hope that the case can be resolved, with justice prevailing. Whilst of course it would not be right to grant an appeal against the conviction of a guilty man, it serves no purpose to allow an innocent man to continue to be labelled a murderer. It does not benefit the victim (or in this case her family and friends), the community, society as a whole and, of course, the person who has been convicted.
We fully appreciate the need for the authorities to take great care in reaching their decision but feel that your support in Mr Hall's fight for justice could help resolve this matter of real concern once and for all.
We do believe that Mr Hall is truly innocent of the crime for which he was convicted.
As the secretary of Mr. Hall's campaign I developed a website, please see link above.
However, I appreciate that your time is limited and this is why I have attached a passage from the site entitled “In Brief” which summarises the situation, please feel free to consult the website for more information or contact me on the details above.
We look forward to hearing from you,
Yours faithfully,
The Justice 4 Simon Team
